About the hike

We start hike on the foothills of the Alps in the Gantrisch Nature Park at the Gurnigel Wasserscheide bus station, from where we hike leisurely past the Obernünenen alp before the path becomes steeper and we hike up to the Leiterepass. From here, we hike through lush meadows along the narrow panoramic trail and enjoy the view of the Bernese Alps from the back of the Gantrisch. We leave the panoramic trail for a detour in the direction of Homad. The ridge path, which is not too exposed, meanders gently along the Gantrisch range and offers us a fantastic view!

On the Möntschelenspitz, we enjoy the view and admire the panorama towards the Stockhorn and Lake Thun. We descend to the Obere Walalp, from where there is another short ascent towards the picturesque Oberstockesee. From here, our path continues between trees and stones before we reach the second lake of the day.

We end our day of hiking at Hinterstockensee. If you like, you can take a dip in the cool water or treat yourself to a refreshment in the restaurant at the Chrindi middle station. If you still haven’t had enough of the view, you can also take the cable car up to the Stockhorn from here.

Keep in mind

The hike does not have too many meters in altitude, but it can still be challenging due to its long duration. The paths are not too exposed but are narrow and muddy and slippery, especially after rain. Good footwear is therefore a must!

I also recommend bringing hiking poles. We won’t pass any restaurants until the very end of the hike, so be sure to bring a picnic and plenty of drinks.

How to sign up

To register, please complete the form below. Please note that your registration is binding. Places are limited to a maximum of 11 – “first come first serve” 😉 After your registration you will receive a confirmation and a message from the organizer as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: If you are unexpectedly unable to attend, please let us know by 19th of June at the latest so that we can give others on the waiting list the opportunity to come along. Participants who cancel at short notice will be excluded from future events. We strive to offer our events free of charge and invest a lot of our free time in these events (we all work on a voluntary basis), but have unfortunately experienced many no-shows/no-answers or super last-minute cancellations in recent years, which is demotivating for the organisers. That’s why we had to establish this rule.

Liability disclaimer / Please note

The hike is free of charge, but our organisers are always happy to receive a small tip via TWINT for their voluntary work (it takes about three days to organise and run a hike). The number will be announced after registration and you will be invited to a Whatsapp group. Food and drink are not included in our hikes and you must bring your own. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility, as we are only a volunteer community of friends and not an official tour operator. You will therefore be asked to confirm a disclaimer below. You can also find more information in our FAQ.

Please note: The hike is currently fully booked, but you can register for the waiting list using the form.
