About the hike

Spring is calling and with it the first hike of Swissmountaingirls in 2022! To be on the safe side snow-wise, the first hike will take us to Ticino – the highlight of the tour is the spectacular view from Monte San Salvatore over Lugano and the lake. The starting point of our hike (Melide) can be reached in 2h 10min from Zurich HB.

We start at Melide train station, from where a path winds up through the forest for about 400hm to Carona, a beautiful little Ticino village. There we continue relatively flat through the forest to Ciona, which is even smaller and more rustic – here you get the impression that time has stood still! From there we continue through the forest with a last climb of about 200hm to Monte San Salvatore. Here we enjoy the view before we start the descent to Paradiso, always with the lake in front of us. If you don’t want to descend, you can take the gondola from here to Paradiso.

Tips for photography and outdoor fans

Whoever wants can ask me questions about photography and hiking equipment on the hike. I have been working for two years as a freelance photographer for various tourist destinations (see my website for more info) and would be happy to help you with tips on photography. I also know a lot about outdoor equipment and will be happy to share my knowledge with you on this hike!

How to register

To register, please send an email to julia@swissmountaingirls.ch. We will send you more information before the event about meeting point and co. The places are limited to max. 10 persons.

IMPORTANT: It can always happen that something unforeseen happens. Please keep in mind that we are trying very hard to organize this day. If you can’t make it, please let us know by April 22nd at the latest so we can give others a chance to join us. Participants who cancel at shorter notice will be excluded from future events – we really want to give everyone the chance to come along. Unfortunately we had to make this rule after some negative experiences in the past.

Disclaimer / Please note

The hike is free of charge, but our organizers are always happy to receive a small tip via TWINT for their volunteer work (organizing a hike takes about three days). The number for twinting will be announced after registration. Food and drinks are not included in our hikes, please bring them yourself. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility, as we are only a volunteer community of friends and not an official tour provider. You will therefore be asked to sign a disclaimer at the event. You can also find more info in our FAQ.
