Mom-Kids Hike to Fuerenalp in Engelberg / June 19th 2022

Route: parking lot Fürenalp valley station – Engelberger Aa valley – parking lot Fürenalp. The final length of the hike will depend on the little hikers. Depending on the age and condition of the children, one of the three variants of the hike is envisaged: Sperm Whale (easy), Badger (medium) or Dr. Brumm (difficult because it’s very long). Suitable for children of all ages. NOTE: smaller children have to be carried in a backpack as the path is not suitable for pushchairs.

Organised by: Ariane (speaks DE, EN, FR)

About the hike

Our first Mom & Kids hike takes us to the beautiful Engelberg Aa valley, there are imposing mountains, cold mountain streams, lots of freedom, wonderful experiences and discoveries for goss and small. We will hike in the spirit of the story “Dr Brumm goes hiking” and will enjoy a playful day in the mountains.

We start at the parking lot of the Fürenalp gondola valley station. After a short introduction to Dr. Brumm and his story, we will set off on an easy hike along the Engelberger Aa past many beautiful spots that the children can explore and observe at their own pace. The trail is varied and there is something for everyone. For extra motivation with riddles, tasks and stories, the three friends Dr. Brumm, Badger and Sperm Whale provide.

This hike is all about fun and freedom for the kids, and a relaxing afternoon for the moms. If we only manage 500 m, that’s totally O.K., because those who hike with children know that the way is the goal.

There are three route options, below on the map the example badger:

  • Sperm whale: 4.20 km, 130 hm up/down, duration without breaks approx. 2h 30min Level: easy
  • Badger: 5.90 km, 150 hm up/down, duration without breaks approx. 3h 30min Level: easy, at the turnaround point, Alpenrösli, there is the possibility for a glacé or cool drink
  • Dr. Brumm: 9.15 km, 340 hm up/down, duration without breaks approx. 5h Level: easy, we just need a lot of stamina and there are two possibilities for Glacé and cool drinks.

How to sign up

To register please send an email to ariane@swissmountaingirls.ch. We will send you more information before the event about meeting point and co. The places are limited to max. 5 families. First come first serve 😉

IMPORTANT: It can always happen that something unforeseen comes up. If you are unexpectedly unable to attend, please let us know by June 17 at the latest so that we can give others the opportunity to come along. Participants who cancel on shorter notice will be excluded from future events – we really want to give everyone a chance to come. We strive to offer our events for free and invest a lot of our free time in these events (we are all volunteers), but have unfortunately seen a lot of no-shows/no-responses or super last-minute cancellations in recent years, which is demotivating for the organizers. Therefore, we had to set up this rule.

Disclaimer / Please note

The hike is free of charge, but our organizers always appreciate a small tip via TWINT for their volunteer work (organizing a hike is about three days of effort). The number will be announced after registration. Food and drinks are not included in our hikes and please bring your own. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility, as we are only a volunteer community of friends and not an official tour provider. You will therefore be asked to sign a disclaimer at the event. You can also find more info in our FAQ.
