Route: Gummenalp cable car – Wirzweil
4 hours (approx. 1.5 hours hiking time) 3.8 kilometers. Not suitable for strollers.
Organized by: Ariane (speaks DE, ENG)
About the hike
Gummenalp Witches’ Trail: Be enchanted as you follow in the footsteps of the herbal witch “Lizi.” The Witches’ Trail above the fascinating Wirzweli high plateau is an easy but witchcraft-themed hike.
The Eggwald-Gummenalp 6-seater gondola lift takes you to the start of the Witches’ Trail at 1,559 meters above sea level. Enjoy the wonderful view of the holiday village of Wirzweli and follow the signs for the Witches’ Trail to the entrance gate. Behind this creaking door, the bewitched adventure begins. The hike leads gently downhill through the mystical forest and across lush meadows, past exciting witch stations. A barbecue area with firewood, grill rack, and seating is available along the way and invites you to linger.
Please note
The tour is not suitable for strollers – we will most likely be barbecuing, so please bring your own food for you and your children. Also remember to bring something to eat in case we are unable to barbecue.

How to register
To register, please fill out the form below. Please note that your registration is binding. After registering, you will receive confirmation and a message from the organizer shortly.
IMPORTANT: If you are unexpectedly unable to attend, please let us know three days in advance at the latest so that we can give others on the waiting list the opportunity to join. Participants who cancel at short notice will be excluded from future events. We strive to offer our events free of charge and invest a lot of our free time in these events (we all work on a voluntary basis), but unfortunately we have experienced many no-shows/no-replies or last-minute cancellations in recent years, which is demotivating for the organizers. Therefore, we had to establish this rule.
Disclaimer / Please note
The hike is free of charge, but our organizers always appreciate a small tip via TWINT for their volunteer work (organizing and conducting a hike takes about three days of effort). The number will be announced after registration, and you will be invited to join a WhatsApp group. Food and drinks are not included in our hikes and must be brought along by participants. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility, as we are only a volunteer community of friends and not an official tour operator. You will therefore be asked to confirm a disclaimer below. You can find more information in our FAQ.
