Waiting list: Niederbauen – Alp Tritt – June 15th 2024

4h, 7km, 830 positive meters und 830 negative meters. Level: Medium

Route: Niederbauen – Choltal – Niederbauenalp – Alp Tritt

Meeting point: 10h30 at Niederbauen (valley station)

Organized by: Vicky (speaks DE, EN)

About the hike

We start at the Niederbauenbahn valley station in Emmetten. While everyone else waits for the cable car ride up, we walk leisurely towards Choltal, crossing alpine meadows along the way. We initially follow the wide hiking trail until we come to a small junction. From there, we follow a narrow trail and cross a waterfall. With a bit of luck, we might see a chamois or two leaping through the steep terrain.

As soon as we reach the Niederbauenalp, we walk through extensive cow pastures with free-grazing cattle, pass mountain farms with the opportunity to buy alp cheese and enjoy the mountain landscape on Lake Lucerne.

Our destination is Alp Tritt, where we can eat and drink something – but this is not a compulsory stop. You can also buy alp cheese or Mutschli here.

Keep in mind

The hike starts off very easy and flat, but shortly becomes steep, narrow and drops steeply down the sides. You should therefore be sure-footed. We walk through open alpine pastures, so you shouldn’t be afraid of free-range cattle.

At the end of the hike, you have the option of descending again on a short but steep path or taking the Niederbauenbähnli (one-way ticket 13 CHF). Please note that in sunny weather the waiting time can be up to 1.5 hours. Paragliding pilots can also use their glider and land at the Emmetten landing site in a few minutes.

How to sign up

To register, please complete the form below. Please note that your registration is binding. Places are limited to a maximum of 11 – “first come first serve” 😉 After your registration you will receive a confirmation and a message from the organizer as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: If you are unexpectedly unable to attend, please let us know by 12th of June at the latest so that we can give others on the waiting list the opportunity to come along. Participants who cancel at short notice will be excluded from future events. We strive to offer our events free of charge and invest a lot of our free time in these events (we all work on a voluntary basis), but have unfortunately experienced many no-shows/no-answers or super last-minute cancellations in recent years, which is demotivating for the organisers. That’s why we had to establish this rule.

Liability disclaimer / Please note

The hike is free of charge, but our organisers are always happy to receive a small tip via TWINT for their voluntary work (it takes about three days to organise and run a hike). The number will be announced after registration and you will be invited to a Whatsapp group. Food and drink are not included in our hikes and you must bring your own. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility, as we are only a volunteer community of friends and not an official tour operator. You will therefore be asked to confirm a disclaimer below. You can also find more information in our FAQ.

Please note: The hike is currently fully booked, but you can register for the waiting list using the form.
