About the hike

A classic in the Bernese Oberland for good reasons 😉 Our motto: pure pleasure for the eyes and soul. The highlight: A picturesque hiking trail along glacier and rock to the world-famous deep blue Oeschinensee and the view of the Blüemlisalp massif (UNESCO World Natural Heritage). The starting point of our hike can be reached in 2h 30 min from Zurich HB.

We start at the train station Kandersteg, from where an easy but steep path goes up directly to the lake. After a short descent to the picturesque, turquoise blue Oeschinensee the path goes quite steeply up towards Underbärgli. The views now become more and more fascinating. Soon we reach the Alpbeizli Unterbergli for a well-deserved break: Here we just lean back and enjoy the scenery. Afterwards we take the same path back down to Lake Oeschinen, always accompanied by the breathtaking view of the high, steep rock faces that surround the lake. Our last steps lead us to the mountain station Oeschinen where we take the cable car down to the valley.

Important: As snow is still expected in May, the route may change if necessary. If the conditions are very good (no/low snow), the circular route Oeschinen mountain station – Oeschinensee – Underbärgli – Oberbärgli – Heuberg – Oeschinen mountain station is also an option (altitude meters each up and down 500m), then we will take the mountain railroad both up and down. In both cases we will hike about 3-4 h, and make about 500 hm ascent and 200-500hm, (varies depending on the route) descent and take breaks every now and then to enjoy the beautiful nature.

Spending time together in nature, enjoying great views and good conversations are in the foreground.

How to sign up

To register, please send an email to tina@swissmountaingirls.ch. We will send you more information before the event about meeting point and co. The places are limited to max. 10 persons.

IMPORTANT It can always happen that something unforeseen happens. If you can’t make it, please let us know by May 20th at the latest so we can give others a chance to join us. Participants who cancel at shorter notice will be excluded from future events – we really want to give everyone the chance to come along. We strive to offer our events free of charge and invest a lot of our free time into these events (we all work on a voluntary basis), but unfortunately saw a lot of no-shows/no-answers or super short term cancellations in the last years which is demotivating to the organizers. Thus we had to set up this rule.

Disclaimer / please note

he hike is free of charge, but our organizers are always happy to receive a small tip via TWINT for their volunteer work (organizing a hike takes about three days). The number for twinting will be announced after registration. Food and drinks are not included in our hikes, please bring them yourself. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility, as we are only a volunteer community of friends and not an official tour provider. You will therefore be asked to sign a disclaimer at the event. You can also find more info in our FAQ.
