About the hike

Winter is here, but we still want to go on another hike this year – but this time through snowy landscapes!

Our tour starts in Peist (GR) and takes us through the forest and beyond the tree line. High up, the Hochwang ski lodge awaits us, rewarding us with wonderful views and where we can treat ourselves to a hot cup of cocoa and lunch. The trail then winds its way along the high trail to Triemel and briefly through the ski area. We return through the sparse forest into the valley to the village of Pagig. From there we follow the main road to St. Peter, from where we take the bus home. You can find more information on the hike here.

The pure hiking time is around 4h 15 min, but we take enough time on the way to enjoy the breathtaking view and take a break at the ski lodge – hopefully with sunshine! Please make sure you have good hiking boots with a good grip, hiking poles, possibly gaiters, sun cream & sunglasses, tea or water and a snack.

Please note that the tour is dependent on the conditions on the day (especially snowfall / visibility). We therefore reserve the right to change the route at short notice or to cancel the hike in the event of severe weather.

Information on getting there

We meet at 09:45 in Peist or at 07:38 on the train from Zurich main station (please note new times, one hour earlier!). The journey to Peist by public transport takes as follows:

– From Bern 3h 10min

– From Zurich 2h 03min

You can find the exact route on our Komoot profile. By the way: If you send us an email with your first name and surname to hello@swissmountaingirls.ch we’ll even give you a Komoot region pack of your choice!

How to sign up

To register, please complete the form below. Please note that your registration is binding. Places are limited to a maximum of 15 – “first come first serve” 😉 After your registration you will receive a confirmation and a message from the organiser Julia as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT: If you are unexpectedly unable to attend, please let us know by 14 December at the latest so that we can give others on the waiting list the opportunity to come along. Participants who cancel at short notice will be excluded from future events. We strive to offer our events free of charge and invest a lot of our free time in these events (we all work on a voluntary basis), but have unfortunately experienced many no-shows/no-answers or super last-minute cancellations in recent years, which is demotivating for the organisers. That’s why we had to establish this rule.

Liability disclaimer / Please note

The hike is free of charge, but our organisers are always happy to receive a small tip via TWINT for their voluntary work (it takes about three days to organise and run a hike). The number will be announced after registration and you will be invited to a Whatsapp group. Food and drink are not included in our hikes and you must bring your own. Participation is at your own risk and responsibility, as we are only a volunteer community of friends and not an official tour operator. You will therefore be asked to confirm a disclaimer below. You can also find more information in our FAQ.

Unfortunately, the hike has currently reached the maximum number of participants. However, you can still register below, we have a waiting list!
